WHY INVEST IN A LIGHTING DESIGN?

BECAUSE GREAT LIGHTING DOESNT HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT.

Lighting is more than just installing fixtures – it shapes how your home feels, functions, and flows. The right lighting design enhances every surface, colour, and texture, bringing your interiors and exteriors to life and creating spaces that feel warm, comfortable, and inviting. Without thoughtful design, even the most beautiful home can feel flat, harsh, or incomplete.

Investing in professional lighting design ensures each room serves its purpose. From bright, focused task lighting in your kitchen to soft, restful ambience in your bedroom. It prevents costly mistakes, removes guesswork, and turns your vision into reality with confidence and clarity. Simply put, great lighting design doesn’t just illuminate your home, it transforms it.

HOW IT WORKS

We’re so glad you’re here. Lighting is one of the most powerful ways to transform a house into a home, and we’re excited to help you make your project shine. Whether you’re renovating, building new, or simply looking to improve a few key spaces, our role is to guide you through the details so nothing gets overlooked.

Here’s what you can expect when you work with us:

DISCOVERY

PHASE

We begin with a complimentary consultation to understand your vision, review plans or photos, and discuss the scope of your project. You’ll receive a custom estimate based on your needs and goals.

DESIGN +
PLANNING

Our first in-depth consultation focuses on how your space will function and feel. We then prepare and issue a preliminary lighting design and legend package, including thoughtful fixture placement, product suggestions, and control strategies.

REVIEW + COORIDINATION

In a follow-up consultation, we review the initial design together, answer questions, and develop any refinements. One revision (up to 2 hours) is included to ensure the design fully aligns with your intent. Finalized lighting plans and legends are then issued, ready for your team to use.

We’re available to support your team throughout the build, whether that’s coordinating with trades, providing clarification, or conducting a site visit by request. Optional printed plan sets are also available for ease on-site.

THE VALUE OF A THOUGHTFUL PLAN

  • Smart Planning = Long-Term Saving
We think through the entire system upfront: wiring, switching, fixture performance, compatibility with automation, energy efficiency, and more. This helps avoid costly revisions, miscommunication with contractors, or mismatched products during the build.

  • Seamless Collaboration with Your Team
Our lighting consultants speak the language of architects, designers, builders, and electricians. We provide clear documentation, specs, and drawings that make implementation smooth and precise—keeping your project on time and aligned with your vision.

  • One Less Time To Worry About
When you hire a lighting consultant, you’re handing a complex, detail-rich part of your project over to a trusted expert. We anticipate the things you may not have considered, ask the right questions, and guide you through decisions with clarity and care.

  • Lighting That Works (and Wows)
It’s not just about putting fixtures on a ceiling. A lighting consultant designs a layered system that supports how you live, work, move, and feel in a space, creating the right balance of function and atmosphere.

SEE OUR WORK

Already working with a designer?

Fantastic.

So you already have an interior designer on your team — we love that — they add so much value to the experience. If your interior designer has provided a reflected ceiling plan (RCP), that’s a great foundation—we love starting with a vision. But an RCP typically focuses on aesthetics and general fixture placement, not the technical precision that ensures your home feels warm, functional, and flexible. We refine the design with details like beam spreads, switch locations, layered lighting effects, and circuiting so your space works beautifully day and night. Think of it as turning a beautiful concept into a fully engineered, buildable plan your electrician can price and execute with confidence.

Smart switching (Optional, But Powerful)

Not everyone needs a full smart home system — but smart lighting is quickly gaining popularity for the comfort and flexibility it brings to everyday life. From simple dimming and scene-setting to control from your phone or voice, it’s a convenient option that can be as small or as extensive as you’d like. We’ll walk you through how it compares to conventional switching so you can decide if it’s the right fit for your home.

  • Convenience
Control your lights from a smartphone, tablet, remote, or even your voice. No more running around the house to switch everything off — it’s all in one place.

  • Customization
Create pre-set scenes that match your daily routines: bright for cooking, soft and cozy for movie night, or warm and inviting for entertaining guests.

  • Clean Design
Say goodbye to “wall acne.” Instead of rows of switches and dimmers cluttering every wall, smart systems streamline controls into a single keypad or app.

  • Energy Savings
Smart dimmers and timers help reduce wasted electricity by automatically adjusting or shutting lights off when they’re not needed. It’s good for the planet and your utility bill.

  • Security
Schedule lights to turn on and off while you’re away, or set up motion-based exterior lighting for extra peach of mind.

  • Scalable
You don’t have to commit to a whole-home system. Start small and expand over time as it fits your lifestyle.

LIGHTING, TWO WAYS

Compare a sample plan using conventional switches versus a lighting plan with smart lighting features.

HELPFUL ANSWERS

We start by understanding your lifestyle, comfort with technology, and budget. In some modern architectural designs—think open plans or homes with wall to wall windows—there may be virtually no walls to mount traditional switches. In these cases, smart lighting becomes especially valuable, allowing you to control multiple zones from a compact smart keypads without sacrificing the clean, uncluttered look of your space. We’ll recommend the right level of technology so you get convenience and flexibility without unnecessary complexity.

Both. We specify fixture types (e.g., recessed, pendants, tape lighting) and provide performance guidelines so you can shop with confidence. If you prefer, we can also handle fixture procurement and assist with the selection process.

We love natural light too—but at 10 p.m., it won’t help! We design layered lighting that complements daylight and keeps your space functional, comfortable, and beautiful even after the sun goes down.

We tailor lighting to each space: bright, focused lighting for offices, layered controls for gyms, or dramatic accents for wine storage—enhancing both use and style.

Yes. We review your finalized millwork and kitchen plans to ensure every light is perfectly placed. The kitchen is the heart of your home, so we reduce shadows in work zones while creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for cooking, entertaining, and daily life.

Yes. We’ll review your options for lighting unique spaces and provide clear guidance so you can choose the best solution for your home.

Yes. Builder layouts usually meet code, but lighting is more than just rules—it’s personal and should reflect how you live. Our plans go beyond minimum requirements to create spaces that are inviting, functional, and tailored to your lifestyle.

Absolutely. Our plans include a detailed legend and clear instructions, giving your contractor or electrician a step-by-step roadmap for placement, switches, and controls. This ensures your lighting is installed exactly as designed, avoids costly mistakes, and keeps your project on schedule.

As early as possible! If you have a plan we can start working before construction begins. Early involvement lets us integrate the lighting plan into your project from the start, preventing costly changes such as misplaced outlets, or poorly placed fixtures.

Yes — one set of changes is included in our services. We encourage reviewing the plan carefully. Minor adjustments are easy to make before installation begins, ensuring your lighting meets your vision.
